1. Dual Language Bilingual Education in Spanish and English (Elementary)
In DCPS Dual Language School programs, academic instruction is conducted in both Spanish and English and the student population is a mixture of native-English and native Spanish speakers, promoting students to learn from one another as well as from the teachers. In order to attain the needed level of proficiency in both English and Spanish, the DCPS Dual Language immersion programs have implemented instruction in both languages starting at Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten levels and progress in grade level from year to year.
Dual language immersion programs have been established at the following schools:
Bancroft Elementary School : Headstart-Grade 6
Barnard Elementary School: Headstart – Kindergarten
Brightwood Elementary School: Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 2
Bruce-Monroe Elementary School : Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 1
Cleveland Elementary School: Headstart – Grade 3
H.D. Cooke Elementary School: Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 3
Oyster Elementary School: Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 6
Marie Reed Learning Center: Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 1
